The objective

Wobbly Life has millions of players globally, the accolade of topping various Nintendo download charts… and a legacy webstore that kept going down.

The team at RubberBandGames spotted that something needed to change. They wanted to fix the failing e-shop and give their loyal fans a much better merchandise offering.

So, they set out on a mission to refresh and relaunch the Wobbly Life e-commerce presence. And they needed a trusted partner to the run the whole thing; from product design, to store set up, to fulfilment.

Our approach

We worked closely with our partner, Bolt Production International, to set a clear brief and project plan – with the player in mind.

Led by our expert Design Team, an entirely new product set was created. Using visuals directly from the game, the Wobbly Life world came to life through a number of cute and quirky SKUs; plushes, hoodies, tshirts and more. We built a bespoke print-on-demand solution for apparel, meaning low upfront investment and streamlined inventory management. Plus, we ensured a reliable, user-friendly webstore by building a custom site, fully integrated with Shopify and our order management system in the back end. 

When the orders rolled in, our warehouse team geared up; picking, packing and dispatching. We took full responsibility of storage and global fulfilment of stock. 

By holding the pen on ecommerce, product design and operations, we were able to be a one-stop partner for the RubberBandGames team – with the Wobbly Life player experience kept as priority from start to finish. 

Project outcome

RubberBandGames were so impressed with the performance of the launch webstore that they integrated a direct link within the game itself – seamlessly connecting players with a chance to buy merch.

The print-on-demand model we developed meant that the investment in stock could be done in an agile way; keeping launch costs low. The merchandise range was expanded to include fan favourites such as mouse mats, and posters – giving the community more ways to engage with the brand. Best of all, the webstore launch ahead of schedule and was met with immediate buzz, with fans posting on social media and creating instant traction.
